About Me

I studied Graphic Design at school; Art was always my favorite subject. I left school to study a BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design for two years, which I really enjoyed and became more interest in the subject. After my two years at college and came out with a triple grade distinction and chose to continue my studies at Coventry University.

Throughout my years of studying Graphic Design & Illustration I have gained a good knowledge in Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress and also little knowledge of Dreamweaver and Flash. I have also been involved in using traditional printing methods to create authentic prints for my designs.

After University I plan to take on a Junior Graphic Design/Illustrator role in order to gain more studio experience, working with clients but also to work within a studio. I also want to set up a side business in designing and hand printing bespoke wallpaper, which I would do in my spare time.

During my studies I have done a little freelancing, such as creating a set of illustrations for a local Coventry DJ, who used them for flyers, and also animated visualisations for his DJ nights. I have also been involved in producing illustrations for a wedding stationary company, including designing wedding stationary for an acquaintance.

The projects I have been involved in my third year have all been competition briefs such as; D&AD, RSA Design Directions, YCN, Penguin & Puffin design awards. Being involved with these projects has helped me realise what sort of career I would like to pursue. With The D&AD brief I was heavily using Photoshop and Illustrator to make my work look professional yet clean and tidy.

For my professional practice module, I was involved with a group of 6 other people in re branding an Entertainments business. We all had our roles; I was involved in creating an information booklet, with some posters to help advertise the business. During that module I learnt to communicate well with the client, but also with fellow designers was working with. I also learnt about budgeting when it came to printing.

I have studio experience, from when I spent my summer holiday working for two different companies. One company was ‘Terry Farrells & Partners’ where I was doing some Graphic Design work creating brochures and invites for the Architects Company. The other company was ‘Ignito’ where I was working in the Graphic Design suite at a Creative Advertising & Marketing company.

I am set on achieving my goals and I hope to become a successful designer & illustrator.
