Perfume

I began reading the book 'Perfume', as I have never heard of the story myself, and I would have not know where to start off for ideas for the book cover. The story is about a boy who can identify every scent, but he has a fascination with the scent of virgin women, in which he murders, an wraps up so he can soak up the scent.
There was a certain part of the story which really captured me, in which I wanted to base the book cover on. It is when Jean-Baptiste Grenouille enters the room of the old perfumer Giuseppe Baldini. Jean-Baptistes enters the room and he names every scent he can smell in the perfumery room. I thought about using an old chemistry set and going around charity shops to find old vintage glass bottles. I was going to use all sorts of food colouring for the jars, but I done a trial run with it and it all looked a bit to modern and funky. I went ahead just using red food colouring so it would look a lot like blood dripping from the glass so it symbolises the murder.
